Curaçao Highlights tour: Hato Caves, Flamingos & Beach Time

What to Expect (Hato Caves): The Climb: Reaching the cave entrance requires climbing 49 stone steps. Take your time if you need to pace yourself. Climate: Because these are above-ground limestone caves, the interior is warm and humid rather than cool. The cave is located 12 degrees north of the Equator, so on sunny days it can get a little hot inside the cave. Ventilators are strategically placed throughout the cave for a welcome breeze, although the temperature adds to the full experience. Please wear comfortable and tropical (sportive) clothing. Sights: Guides share the history of runaway slaves who used the caves as a hiding place 250 years ago, alongside unique rock shapes, a fruit bat colony, and romantic pools. Rules: Photography and video recording are restricted inside the cave to protect the resident bats, except in designated areas.
